Good to know…

An endless nature reserve, with many single tracks, sandy paths, heath paths and varied forest paths. Let yourself be surprised by the beauty of this area. The Leenderbos Trail consists of many different trails, varying in distance.

The Leenderbos trail has Riding School “De Molenberg” in Leende as its start and finish location. There are 4 different distances. From 9km to 28km. All routes run across the beautiful Leenderbossen.

Information

Until 1930, the Leenderbos forestry housed a vast area of heathland and sand drifts. The heath was no longer profitable for agriculture, so the area was neglected. Staatsbosbeheer purchased the land and planted new forests. The Leenderbos was a typical production forest, as they were also created elsewhere in the Netherlands.

At this time, the Leenderbos no longer has the same function as in the crisis years. Although the forest ‘supplies’ 6000 cubic meters of wood annually, recreation and natural values are now at least as important. There are many hiking, cycling and horse trails. The forests are becoming more diverse and therefore more attractive for different animal species.

The Routes

There are 4 different distances to choose from: 9, 15, 21 and 28km.

All distances start from the grounds of Riding School “De Molenberg” in Leende, which is located on the edge of the Leenderbossen. All distances give you a good impression of the diversity of the Nature Reserve. You can wander endlessly without returning to the inhabited world.

We have created the routes with great pleasure. We return to this area at least twice a year for an event. The area is completely different in summer compared to winter.

Riding School “De Molenberg” is our start and finish partner at the Leenderbos Trail. There is sufficient parking space at the riding school, follow route P.
